Some of us find it hard to fall back asleep when we wake up in the middle of the night. If you're one of us, you might want to try reciting a poem you learned when you were a youngster or singing a song in your head.
Think about movie scenes from a film you enjoyed or even sing songs to yourself in your head. If this sounds a little bit like counting sheep, it's because the principle behind it is the same. Repetition can be soothing, allowing your brain to relax, slowly gentling you back into sleep. There are also apps and podcasts that tell nonsensical and/or boring bedtime stories you can try. We hope some of these suggestions help you next time you wake up at 2 or 3 o'clock in the morning and can't seem to get back to sleep.
