Health and Wealth Sprint
There’s a saying, “If you don’t have your health, you have nothing.” If the wealthiest person in the world was on their deathbed, they’d give up their fortune just to live a little longer. I know how they feel. Years ago I was in very poor health with respiratory problems – bronchitis, asthma and allergies. I lived on inhalers and I took steroids, which had terrible side effects. I was unable to sleep lying down, because I couldn’t breathe so I slept in a recliner while my wife and children watched me to see if I would take my last breath. It was a very poor way to exist. I had to find a solution so I wouldn’t meet the same fate of my father, who died of respiratory problems at the age of 57. I enrolled in the American Health Sciences Institute to study all aspects of health, received a degree in Health Sciences, and became a Certified Wellness Coach. It was the same training taken by Tony Robbins, one of the top personal development trainers in the world and Harvey Diamond, co-author of “Fit For Life”, the all-time best-selling book on health. Then, I began to change my lifestyle by nutrition, supplementation, physical activity and stress management. It was simple, but it wasn’t easy. But, the results were unbelievable – for the past twenty five years I have had no colds, flues, sick days, missed a day of work, or taken any medication, even an aspirin. The Health & Wealth Sprint (HWS) program helps seniors meet their needs in the area of wellness including nutrition, supplementation, physical activity, mental health, stress management, and skin care. Nourishment: In “The Joy of Ageless Health,” baby boomer Red O’Laughlin wrote, “Eating to provide the nutritional balance required for health is paramount. Nutrient deficiency is something we can control.” There are six major nutrients: Carbohydrates, Fats, Proteins, Vitamins, Minerals, and Water and a number of other nutrients, some as small as the head of a pin that are required daily. The HWS program recommendations provide good nutrition on a daily basis and also provide easy to use meal substitutes with the correct balance of carbohydrates, proteins, and essential fatty acids. Supplementation: Some nutrients are produced by the body and some must come from outside sources like food and nutritional supplements. The U.S. governmental regulations for supplement manufacturing practices are similar to those for food. The most effective manufacturing practices are those that use pharmaceutical standards. The best ways to find effective supplements is to check the Comparative Guide to Nutritional Supplements by Bio Scientist Lyly MacWilliam. It is of utmost importance that seniors get the most effective supplements and they are provided by the HWS program. Physical activity: Our bodies were made to move. Access to health clubs or at least the equipment for cardio and weight-bearing exercise is important to increase strength, build bones, aid digestion, release hormones and build a strong immune system to prevent disease. Dr. Wilmer Gilman, a Houston neurologist, recently prescribed dancing for dementia patients and stated how activity makes a difference in their progress. The HWS program works with trainers, physical therapists, chiropractors and mindset coaches, and insuring checkups and testing are done by a physician and become a regular routine, especially for hormones and endocrine glands. HWS has a recommended regimen for cardio, weight bearing, and endurance activities. Mental health: This includes emotional, psychological and social well-being; disorders affecting anxiety, behavior, eating, mood or personality; trauma; and more. It influences how one thinks, feels and is treated with psychotherapy and medication. Mental health is difficult to acknowledge and prescribe for because it may come and go. It is a myth that someone is either mentally ill or well. We all have about the same amount of memory; it is the ability to recall that is different. The HWS programs helps seniors learn how to improve their ability to recall. Stress & Relaxation: Stress is a precursor to disease and is created by relationships, watching TV, worrying, unfamiliar surroundings and everyday living. Taking up activities and training recommended by HWS like meditation, yoga, stretching, self-hypnosis and getting a good night’s sleep, helpful in reducing stress. Skin Care: The largest organ of the body is our skin. Many seniors fail to take good care of their skin and skin cancer is one of the most prevalent issues. Many skin care products have parabens to meet government standards of preservations and parabens are dangerous to the health of your skin. Self-preserving products such as the ones provided by the HWS program for seniors are the best for health skin. Seniors are a major component of the U.S. There are over 111 million people aged 50-plus in the U.S. which is about 35% of the U.S. population. Most of us have loved someone in our lives who is a senior. Seniors’ needs are very important, and that’s why I’m excited to introduce the Health & Wealth Sprint (HWS) program for seniors and their families with a focus on health and wellness. Baby boomers are the largest living age demographic with seniors turning 60 years of age every 7 seconds. They have the largest amount of disposable income and are watching the most amount of television daily. Known as the Longevity Economy they represent $7.6 trillion in economic activity, $5.6 trill of which is in direct spending. They want products that will provide them content that is educational, informative, and more than just entertainment. That is the reason we are involved in the Boomer Connection TV Series – a show for senior by seniors. As the show host, I interview some of the most prominent seniors who provide good advice for seniors such as Earl Heard founder of BIC Alliance; Hank Moore, corporate strategist; Zina Garrison, Olympic Tennis Champion: Red O’Laughlin, author of longevity books; Dave McCabe, founder of Sailing Angels Foundation; John Bird, author of God’s Word for the Oil Patch; Marcello Marini, pioneer of Hispanic TV; and Jessica Taylor, advocate of Dementia awareness.
